 Keeping Safe 

One part of our society that is constantly developing is our road systems! With more and more people buying cars, and more of our world turning into roads, the importance of road safety is more so now than ever before. Learning how to stay safe when you are on the street or using transportation is an important part of living in our society. 

The first step to staying safe with our roads is learning what road signs and symbols mean. Let's review the road signs and symbols you learned in this chapter. 

Traffic lights 

Traffic light: the traffic light tells cars and pedestrians when they can go and when they can stop. 

Fill in the blank to test your knowledge of what each color in a traffic light means. Check your answers at the end of the blog post.

2. A yellow light means __________. 

3. And a red light means ___________. 

Prohibited area signs


Prohibited area signs: A red circle with a white block line through it means prohibited area. If you see this sign it means you are not allowed to walk or drive into that area. 

4. True or False: A red sign with a yellow block line means it is okay to go into that area.

Stop signs


Stop signs: Stop signs are octogons. They are red and say stop. Stop signs mean stop!

No pedestrians signs: A white circle sign with a red border and black figure people inside means no pedestrians.

Warning signs 
Warning signs: A warning signs tends to be a white triangle with a red boarder and a symbol in the middle. A warning sign tells drivers to be cautions, and to look out for something. There can be warning signs for children or even wildlife.
